A 3.2 Mile Foster Care Walk Fundraiser

This year the Iowa Foster & Adoptive Parents Association (IFAPA) will hold our 4th Annual Foster Care Walk. Stride for Foster Care – Take a Walk on a Child’s Side, is a fundraising walk benefiting Iowa’s children in foster care. This year’s family-friendly event will take place the morning of Saturday, May 7, 2011 in West Des Moines. The Stride for Foster Care event will include a 3.2 mile walk around Raccoon River Park and will end with free pizza and activities for everyone. Why Walk?

Because there are 5,000 children in Iowa’s foster care system that need our support.


How to Register:

Walkers are asked to sign up by April 18, 2011 and pay a $30 reg. fee which includes a
t-shirt and a free pizza for lunch. Kids 11 & under are free. When registering, non-registered kids t-shirts can also be purchased for $10 each. Walkers can choose to either register online through our walk website or print off our registration form and mail in with your registration fee(s).

HOW TO REGISTER ONLINE FOR THE WALK:

1. On the Stride for Foster Care home page, scroll to the bottom and click on “click here to get registered” or on the left and side of the page you can click on “register for the walk”
2. Enter in the number of people you are registering for. Registration is $30 per person ages 12 and older. You can also mark how many kids t-shirts you would like to buy. Kids t-shirts are $10 a shirt. Once you have entered your quantities click “next”
3. Enter the names of those registering and their t-shirt size. If you are bringing children 11 and under, please mark how many you are bringing. If you purchased kids t-shirts, please mark the sizes you need. Once you have entered all your information click “next”
4. Enter your contact and credit card information. Once you have entered all of your information click “submit”
5. You will receive a confirmation email. Please print off receipt for your records.

HOW TO CREATE A PERSONAL FUNDRAISING PAGE (Create a fundraising profile page and ask family / friends for online pledges):

1. Once you have registered for the walk go back to the Stride for Foster Care home page. On the left hand side click “fundraising page”
2. Click on “click here to join”
3. Create a new account
4. You will enter a user id and password. Write these down so you don’t loose them.
5. Check, create a new personal fundraising page.
6. Once you log into your page you can edit your page, email a link to friends and family or upload a link to your fundraising page any social network site; such as: facebook, twitter, myspace, etc.
7. You can also record offline donations. Under the fundraising progress page, click “record offline donations”

 

Fundraising:

Walkers who register online, can invite their family and friends to make online pledges (see instruction above) and/or you can use our PLEDGE FORM to collect walk pledges face-to-face.  Please be sure to turn in this form and pledge money on the day of the walk.
